| Invitations are out!
And 8 people are coming to our wedding! Woo-hoo!
Jeffmart was actually incredibly helpful with putting together the
invitations; I don't think I would have made it through the night of
envelope-stuffing without him. And just so you all know, he also helped
do the wax seals. But he did not handle the flames, which is why we
both have 10 whole fingers left.
And we met the priest, and it was good
Since my last posting, we've met with the priest 3 times. We took the
little FOCUS questionnaire, talked about our answers, and now we're all
set! I guess we passed! :) We have to meet one more time to go over
more technical stuff.
Goody bags
Favors and gifts. We both have ideas about them but they have to be ordered.
Non-stop decision making
So we're in this wedding-planning segment now where everything is
coming at us fast and furious and we're making all these decisions,
bam! clam chowder. bam! bacon and scallops. bam! purple wedding stamps.
bam! gold-edged shoes. bam! rehearsal at 630 (or was it 6? i think 630.
or was it 6? i hope jeffrey remembers).
Every day we're making at least one decision about how the wedding day/eve is going to go. Yikes! Ah!
Don't get me wrong. I'm lovin' it.
Which reminds me, I haven't had time to go grocery shopping, so it's
time to gobble down some more fast food. You won't be able to miss me
at the wedding. I'll be the double cheeseburger in the white bun.

| Lions and tigers and invitations, oh, my!
Well, only 19 invitation envelopes left to calligraphy (not sure if
that's really a verb or not). Woo hoo! I managed to use up an entire
ink cartridge, which is about what I was expecting. Fortunately,
I have two. Hopefully, this second one makes it to the end. We
currently have about 85 invitations to do, which means 170 envelopes.
Although it's infinitely more fun to do the pretty writing than to
fight with the printer. Maybe I should just hand write the invitations!!
Friday night funtimes
...with the priest! Yayyy!
Breaking news
J-mart and his merry attendants will not be nude at the wedding. The groom has selected a tux for everyone to wear at last!
Up next : Hotel schmotel
I've actually been putting off calling Liz at the Inn all week. But
tomorrow is thursday, so I'd better get on with it already. I have to
shore up the details of our arrangement and reserve our "complimentary"
room. The fun bath soap set I ordered came almost overnight, so now I
just need somewhere to use it.
And finally,
My finger is nekkid. I had to surrender my ring to Long's today so that
they can make up the wedding band. I keep going to play with that
little shiny thing and it's not there :(
As an aside -
I didn't know you weren't supposed to check your registry and see what
people had purchased on it. Apparently this is a naughty thing to do.
But the temptation!!

| Yikes!
Just in case you were wondering, I am still getting married in 2 1/2 months.
It occurred to me last week that it is already June, and the wedding is
less than 3 months away, and I have been in a bit of a wedding-planning
frenzy ever since. You can ask J-mart if you haven't experienced it
yourself!
Several major things have been tackled (some of which have managed to escape).
Invitations
After fighting with my printer for hours, we came to an agreement that
he would, in fact, be printing all of the invitations. So, out of 150
invitations, a little over half came out usable. I guess it was a good
thing i got extras. I then realized that the lovely little invitation
kits I purchased did not come with these elusive things called "inner
envelopes" , which apparently are a necessity for properly addressing
formal invitations. I cannot tell you the last time I opened anything,
formal or informal, that had an inner envelope. And they're no peach to
find, either. Fortunately, I struck gold this morning at Staples and
snagged their last 2 boxes of greeting card envelopes, which will work
perfectly as the Outer Envelope.
There are more rules and regulations about wedding invitations than
there are about driving a car. I think they should teach wedding
planning instead of cooking as a home-ec course.
Tasty Treats
Fun stuff : Friday night was our rescheduled taste testing (because
J-mart was having a pleasant bout with migraines when we had originally
scheduled it). The five chickens we tried were all delicious, and we of
course chose the one he brought us that we hadn't put on our to-try
list : Chicken Jerusalem. It was delicious AND everyone liked it, which
means now everyone at the wedding will have to like it. And eat it!
The Great Big Ring Extravaganza
When looking for an engagement style that I liked, we came across this
wedding band wrap that was the most perfect ring for me I've ever seen.
Of course, it was the last one ever sold, and probably made 25 years
ago, and no one has any idea who made it or what it looked like, except
for J-mart and myself. But we went to the nice jeweler, who will make
it for us. So I have to drop off my engagement ring this week (
:( ) so that they can get the size right, and hopefully it will come
out like the one we saw.
Boys are Pretty Much Useless
I have to say, boys are pretty much useless when it comes to planning
weddings. J-mart wanted to be responsible for certain things, and none
of them have been done yet. To be fair, he tries quite hard to help
out, and he has not complained or whined, even when i dragged him to
the store to get envelopes in the 95+ degree heat today (in my car that
has no a/c or fan). However, he has yet to pick out the tuxes for his
attendants, or his own tux, we have yet to been out to look for his
wedding band, he has yet to find out the details of getting the
marriage license, and he has yet to actually arrange to talk with our
potential photographer. In other words, he has yet to do the 5 or so
things he wanted to be in charge of doing. Some of which are pretty
important. Yikes!
The Elusive Priest
After about 6 phone calls in 1 1/2 months, (4 in the last 2 weeks), the
priest recognized me at mass today and said he'd give me a call this
week. Hooray! I am definitely going to try to schedule our next
appointment while we're in the same room. I know he's a very busy guy,
but there are only a few more months left and we can't spend them all
playing phone tag or J-mart and I will be at the altar with noone to
marry us. Or, worse yet, on the steps of the church.
Well, I should probably TRY to get some sleep.

| April showers bring May flowers
I contacted the florist and set up an appointment : April 29th. So it's time to start thinking flowers!
Hotel schmotel : part two
Finally got the contract from Liz, yayyy!! So we have to send it back,
then we just have to work out the free night details, and hotels will
be good to go. Huzzah!
Food is good
Our taste testing is set up for April 22nd. So my parents should be
coming down to join us, and hopefully to meet Jeffmart's parents, also.
We picked out four chicken dishes to choose from: chicken florentine,
chicken marsala, lemon pepper chicken, and chicken that i forgot.
Please pass the scanner
Finally registered at www.target.com (or in your local target store),
www.sears.com (or in your local Sears store) and www.crateandbarrel.com
(or, you know, your local crate and barrel store). We have to add a few
things, but we've got a good base down. And the Crate and Barrel one
was actually almost fun!
And that's all for now, folks
Keeping busy with the gym, work, and searching for a place to live together!

| first of all, sorry for the long delay between updates. for awhile there was nothing to report. now there is quite a bit.
Save the date!
Save-the-date magnets arrived quickly; Jeffrey and I were able to get
them out pretty quickly, too. Actually, as I'm writing this, there are
3 I still have to send because I didn't know people's addresses. The
most difficult part was printing the addresses. After several failed
attempts to print directly on the envelopes, I went with clear mailing
labels. I think we'll do the same for the invitations. Jeffrey was very
helpful with putting the labels on the envelopes and sealing them.
Reception updates
I got myself in a panic that the Crestview hadn't received our deposit,
so I called and verified. I also finalized our DJ choice with them and
discussed tasting food. I have a couple dates, so we have to pick one
and four food choices and then we get free extravagant dinner some
Saturday evening in the next month or two.
Hotel schmotel
I think we're going to go with the Fairfield Inn. I finally got
in touch with the infamous "Liz", and we went up one night and checked
out the rooms, which are roach-free. The rooms are $79/night, doubles
or queen. They have all the basic amenities and offer a free shuttle to
and from the reception. I'm not sure if that's where we want to get our
"free" wedding night room that was included w/our Crestview package.
Jury is still out on that one.
Attendant attire
Bridesmaid dresses are all set, we went with the option with the side-clasp/gather and white sandals.
Next to knock off the list
We have to call Father Copp and arrange a second meeting. I have to
call the florist and start talking flowers and find out how much we'll
have to spend above what was included in our package deal. I have to
sign the room contract and arrange for our wedding night room. I have
to help jeffrey pick out groomsmen attire. And I have to figure out
what to do for a headpiece.
Registries rock
On a final note, we're registered w/target; jeffrey went online and
created a second registry, so there are two: one with stuff picked out
(which we did yesterday) and one w/out. Have to remedy that. I
think we're also going to try to register at Sears and Crate and
Barrel. So far, this is the most fun part of wedding planning, but
still annoying and stressful. We own a lot of stuff, so it's hard for
me to pick out what dishes we'll need. Also, I can't decide if we
should register for good china or not.
And that's all for now, folks.
